titanium alloy would be my guess its standard for surgical devices other things approaching pins in the body and most commonly used for body jewelry
I'd dance looking at surgical supplier websites: companies that make pins, artificial hips etc.
Probably an alloy of several metals beside complimentary properties, including platinum group, titanium, silver etc.
Nitinol is a brilliant alloy which was engineered to "remember" its intended shape when warm by body temperature. We use use Nitinol base caval filters routinely.
